KewbzUK Lube Guide
Silicone based lubes will remain in the puzzle for longer than that of water based lubes and also create more of a 'gummy' feeling than that of water based lubes. If you prefer raw speed then water based is your friend. That being said, there are fast silicone lubricants.
Blitz
Blitz is a thin silicone lubricant designed for speed. Simply add 2 drops to the foot of any corner piece and 1 drop to the edge/corner contact point.
Dash
Dash is slightly thicker than Blitz meaning it offers slightly more control and less speed. Apply 2 drops to the foot of the corner and 1 to the edge-corner contact point. You can also add Dash to the track of an edge for a little more smoothness.
Swift
Swift is great for slowing down fast puzzles and adding a nice plush feel. For optimal application add 2 drops to both sides of an edge track then break in. Add Blitz after for speed whilst keeping the plush/butteryness.
Glide
Glide is a popular lubricant for creating a controllable cube. Apply the same as swift (to the edge track) and add some Blitz (or dash) until you reach your desired feel.
Terra
Perfect for bigger cubes or hardware. Terra is slightly thicker than Glide and thus creates a plush, smooth, controllable feel. Also a great lube if you prefer slower, more controllable turning.
Ignis
Ignis, much like Terra, is perfect for slowing down fast cubes but we recommend adding a little to the hardware of squeaky cubes or the core of bigger cubes. A little goes a long way when it comes to Ignis.
Aqua
Aqua is a water-based lube with the viscosity of silicone-based lubricants, this ensures that aqua spreads easily around your cube and also lasts longer than most other water-based lubricants. Aqua will provide an instant boost of speed with little to no control. We recommend adding a tiny drop to speed up your puzzles.
Did you know?
As a general rule of thumb, thick lubes should go closer to the core, whilst thinner lubes should be applied to the edge/corner pieces.
However, if you want to experiment, try it the other way around and see if that works for you.
Mixing Lubes
⚠️ We don't recommend mixing water-based and silicone-based lubes inside a single cube, unless you use a very small amount of the water-based lube. Mixing water and silicone-based lubes can often create a 'blocky' feel when turning layers. The lubricants almost 'fight' each other.
⚠️ It is very important to break in your cubes before you add more lube.
